this game was very fun!
There's a lot to like about this game. The graphics, the music, the large scope despite being made on a tight deadline.
But the balancing is a little out of whack. By the time I could afford anything better than the starting weapons I could upgrade from 5-10 damage to 500+ damage, quite the jump in output. But the same goes for enemies which by level 3 often have as much hp as the boss of level 2.
Other than that, I never understood the stats. I assumed either focus or dexterity would make the attacks more accurate but I never really noticed a difference so vitality seemed like the obvious choice to upgrade first.
An odd thing I also noticed is that for projectile weapons, if you shoot while strafing the gun doesn't shoot forward but it acts as if the gun is pointing slightly to the side in the direction you're strafing.
I had a ton of fun with this! Wouldn't I know this was for a game jam, I wouldn't have believed it... there's plenty of stuff on steam that couldn't hold a candle to this game (I mean, a leveling system? A store? Not to mention the brilliantly designed, diverse levels...). I feel it's well within your rights to put a price tag on this!
