A downloadable game for Windows

Made for the E1M1 Magazine Game Jam

Invaders have come to destroy your cities - but you're here to stop them! Don your Mecha suit, equip your weapons, and go save the world! But beware, the invaders are around every corner. You can use:

  • Cyber-knife
  • Dual blasters
  • Mini gun
  • Marksman's rifle
  • Rocket launcher

Which one will you choose to save the day?

Known Issues caused by RGM:

  • Floor tiles do not line up with walls
  • Mouse sensitivity requires setting the program to High DPI compatibility mode (Properties > Compatibility > Change high DPI settings > Check both Program DPI and High DPI)
  • Game is blurry at high resolutions on NVIDIA cards. Turn off enhancement settings for the game.
  • Use AncientMetal.exe for windowed, AncientMetalFullscreen.exe for fullscreen (best on 4:3), and AncientMetalFullscreenBorder.exe for fullscreen with letterboxing (best on 16:9)
  • Some antivirus programs flag the 'fullscreen' and 'windowed' executables as viruses. They are simply wrappers for running the game with '--fullscreen' and '--widescreen' arguments, but for safety, these can be deleted and the game can be run with those arguments from command line without those exes.

Hello again, Captain,

Just dropping by to let you know that the tutorial guide I was building for the Raycasting Game Maker is finally complete. I wasn't sure for a while whether I would finish it or not, but I'm very happy to say it's all together now. Ancient Metal ended up making a few appearances in screenshots and video examples throughout the guide, so I wanted to thank you again for letting me include it.

Here is a link to the finished guide: https://filmgamerj.itch.io/guide-to-raycasting-game-maker

Hi Captain Bear Games.
I'm putting together a tutorial for all the ins and outs of how to use the "Raycasting Game Maker," and I wanted to ask if I could use your game as a visual example?

I'm working on both a written tutorial and a video version.

Go for it!

Thank you so much. =)

Fantastic game. Love the graphics and how everything is so fitting to the theme like the pickups being trucks of ammo and repair.
The backgrounds do get a bit eye straining after a while and could have benefited from a higher resolution.

This might be one of the best put together in the jam, but that first enemy with the diagonal attacks is infuriating when they are off screen lol nice work!

good game. But I hаve nоt mastered the 4th level. opponents at this level are hitting too much. And so the game is great. cool interface, has its own anime character, thoughtful levels, its own plot, etc.
